Traditionally, professionals in Panama are not only English-speaking, but speak other languages as well, which is a reason why they are so highly respected and solicited. Traditionally, professionals in Panama are not only English-speaking, but speak other languages as well, which is a reason why they are so highly respected and solicited. As a requirement for high school, students in private schools must speak at least two languages fluently, giving the students a great opportunity for further studies in any country that they chose. Also, state schools are constantly improving their curriculum to provide their students with more options and better opportunities. In many cases, students speak at least three languages, which is very helpful, as we all enter a more globalized world, and new skills are required to compete successfully.
As part of this, Panamá has signed agreements with many respected universities in the US, Spain and other countries, by which students can reciprocally interchange studies between universities. And that´s a great deal and opportunity, not only for Panamanians, but the US students and students from other countries as well. Some examples are the university of Arkansas (US), King School (UK), Oxford (UK) Florida State University (US) among others.
Panamá is considered a good exchange student center.

Many of the doctors here in the Panama City area are English-speaking because many of the physicians here did some of their training in the States. Well more than half of the doctors here in Panama City are fluent in English, so you should have no problem whatsoever finding one to treat you, even if you don't speak any Spanish.

For these types of services, you would have to go to the city, which is very close. It’s so convenient. Just hop in the car and it is 10 minutes away.
Most doctors in Paitilla Hospital (10 minutes away from Casco Viejo) and Punta Pacifica Hospital (15 minutes away from Casco Viejo) are bi-lingual.

The closest hospital to Casco...
The closest hospital to Casco Viejo where you will certainly find English-speaking doctors is Hospital Paitilla. It’s just across the bay from Casco Viejo and easy to get to in a 10 to 15 minute car ride.
