Is it safe to drink the water in the Panama City, Panama area of Casco Viejo?

It is very safe to drink the water in Casco Viejo, a community in Panama City? It is one of those pleasures we all take for granted. In Panama, we joke that it is our "champagne." Enjoy!

The water in the Casco Viejo area of Panama City is drinkable right out of the tap. It comes from a potable water plant in the reverted areas, which is where the U.S. military bases where when the US had a presence here.

Casco Viejo´s tap water is as drinkable as any bottled water you could buy at the store. in fact, the quality of the tap water in general is one of the many good things in Panama.

(Casco Viejo and Casco Antiguo are different names for the same place.)
The water is safe to drink in Casco Viejo. The water supply here in Panama is not like it is in Mexico. Here, the water is drinkable. Having said that, lots of people still use filters and bottled water just like in the US, but they don’t have to.

Yes it is safe to drink the water in Casco Viejo. I never had any problems drinking water from the taps here but of course there are some people who are more sensitive so it might not be recommendable to drink tap water in Casco Viejo. If someone comes here from the US, for example, I tell them to drink bottled water. You may choose to drink bottled water if you are sensitive but in general, the water here in Casco Viejo is safe to drink.
