People in Boquete do not tend to go camping, but there is lots of hiking. I see backpackers all the time going by my house.
Boquete is like in the bowl between the mountains so if you keep going on long hikes that extend to outside of town, you will end up going uphill. Some of the trails are marked and some are not. There are guides that you can hire.
I guess you can do an overnight hike but I do not think many people do it because there are no campsites...
