David Whittington - Tucan Golf Club and Resort
Boquete has a championship golf course 15 minutes from downtown. 18 holes - 7200 yards from the tips with major elevation changes and spectacular views. With the higher elevation Lucero has bent grass tees, fairways and greens. There is also an executive par three at Valle Escondido in Boquete.

Quebrada Grande Golf Course is a 9-hole par 30 executive course located in the resort community of Valle Escondido, Boquete. The course has been beautifully landscaped and designed. The rates are very reasonable and club rental is available. The picture below is of Quebrada Grande Golf Course.
Both courses are challenging and a lot of fun. Since the temperature in Boquete is always a cool 75 degrees, getting in 18 holes is easy during anytime of the day.

Boquete has 2 golf courses:
- Valle Escondido, a pretty 9 hole course which is quite challenging in its own way with many par 3s.
- Lucero, which has a championship 18 hold golf course some 20 minutes drive away (soon to be quicker when when the road is completed).

One of the great reasons to live in Boquete is the wide range of activities that you can participate when you live here. For golfers, we have two choices.
The resort in Valle Escondido has an executive style, 9-hole course that’s fun and challenging to play. Consisting of mostly par-3’s and a few par-4 holes, the course can be played in about 1 1/2 hours and there are two sets of tee boxes to change the look of the holes if you want...

The resort in Valle Escondido has an executive style, 9-hole course that’s fun and challenging to play. Consisting of mostly par-3’s and a few par-4 holes, the course can be played in about 1 1/2 hours and there are two sets of tee boxes to change the look of the holes if you want to play a full 18-hole round. The fairways are narrow, there’s a water hazard on nearly every hole and the greens are small and fast. So, even for the most experienced golfer this course can be exciting. Add to that the incredibly beautiful surroundings and golfing at Valle Escondido is great way to spend the day. There are a good number of members of the club and there are scrambles and tournaments offered throughout the year. Green fees vary according to season but average around $40 for 18-holes.
The other option is the 18-hole championship golf course located at the Lucero residential project about 30-minutes from downtown Boquete. The 18-hole, par-72 golf course was created by renowned designer J. Michael Poellot and offers challenging play surrounded by incredible scenery and magnificent views of the mountains and the Pacific coastline. For the experienced golfer who wants to test his or her skills, Lucero is the golf course of choice. Green fees here average around $60.
Golfing is rapidly becoming a major sport in Panama and there are also a host of beautiful courses in Panama City, the beach areas of Coronado and elsewhere throughout the country.

Near Boquete in the mountains southeast of the highway to David is Lucero Golf Course pictured). Located in a gated community with luxury homes and lots, the course meanders through the community. Some of the higher elevated tee box areas offer vistas that rival many of the California coastline courses!

Recently Bid 4 Boquete held a golf tournament fundraiser there that was a sellout. Arne, my husband played with a sore wrist and had not touched his clubs in two years. He had fun and enjoyed the event and the beautiful course and scenic views very much. There was some wind because it is the dry season and yet this paled in comparison to the various challenges the course offers.
Unfortunately, the camera ran low on battery before he could capture the entire course! We hope these few pictures will entice you to bring your irons and stamina to Lucero's challenges, to enjoy the views and cool mountain air. Although it does get hot in the direct sun. Right now it is the dry-season. The colors of green grow ever richer during the rains of summer.
