How much do restaurants cost in Boquete, Panama?
Paul McBride - Inside Panama Real Estate
I heard recently that there are now 41 restaurants in the Boquete area. With this many places to choose from you can expect a wide variety of cuisine and menu prices depending on where you dine.
Prices are very low for many of the local restaurants but there are also many mid-price to high-price places in the area. A local or "tipico" restaurant will have most menu items below $5. A mid-price restaurant, like Big Daddy's, One Eyed...

A mid-price restaurant, like Big Daddy's, One Eyed Franks, Amigos, Baru or Sugar & Spice will have most items priced below $10. There are a few high-end restaurants (Panamonte or The Rock) where you'll pay $15 to $20 for an entree.
One of the things that attracts me to Boquete is the variety of dining experiences we enjoy. My wife and I can grab a quick bite to eat for less than $10 each or we can splurge on a great meal and spend more. Ah, the choices!

A nice lunch in a small Panamanian restaurant will cost between $3 and $4. A more upscale restaurant will cost between $7 and $11 with tip. If I use my retiree discount I add the discount to my tip.

A meal in a restaurant in Boquete could go between $3.50 to $6.00. The most expensive restaurant could start from $10 - $15 a plate. The food is very good, though!

Boquete is a little bit more expensive than David and other places here in Panama because of the expats living in Boquete. A nice dinner in Boquete at a nice restaurant with some wine could cost you nearly US $60 for a couple.
There are cheaper restaurants, too. Let’s say you just want to go in and want to have a traditional Panamanian breakfast. The cost would cost around $15 for two people. Lunch is about the same amount. This amount would be...

The restaurants in Boquete cost relatively the same compared to the restaurants in the US. If you go to an average steakhouse in the US, it would cost you around US $8 to $15 a plate and that would be the same price in Boquete. But if you want to get premium meat, like Angus beef, it would cost you between US $20 to $30 per plate.

Restaurants in Boquete (as restaurants tend to do) vary in prices. However, expect to pay about US $10 to $15 on average.
There are a great variety of restaurants in Boquete: German, Italian, and steak houses from several cultures. I HIGHLY recommend "Sugar and Spice," a bakery/sandwich shop in town which offers a simply divine reuben sandwich.

Funny story: my husband, a hardline sandwich snob from Philly (How hardline? When he was a younger man, he worked for several cheese steak sandwich shops at the same time for reduced pay simply to learn more about what he terms "The Art of Making the Perfect Sandwich") was so impressed by Sugar and Spice's sandwich work that he makes a ritual of going down and grabbing lunch there once a month, rain or shine, driving all the way from Cochea. Each time he eats there, he tells me "I've ordered the same thing for a year and it keeps getting better!"
