Can I wear jewelry in Boquete, Panama and feel safe?
Dianne Heidke - The Boquete Handbook
Yes, you can wear jewelry in Boquete and feel safe, but don't leave it laying around when the house is being cleaned. If you have a lot of really expensive stuff DO NOT advertise the fact to workers.

Although is safe to wear jewelry in Boquete, keep in mind that it is a small mountain town. Life in Boquete is very informal and relaxed so many expats choose not to wear expensive jewelry even though they may own it. Several people I know who do have exquisite jewelry collections store them in a safe deposit box at the bank and take their jewelry out when traveling or attending a more formal event.

Most people who come to live in Boquete do so because of the relaxed and informal atmosphere so the idea of wearing expensive jewelry seems out of place.

Yes, of course you can wear jewelry in Boquete and feel safe. People in Boquete do not worry about being mugged on account of wearing jewelry. Here in Boquete, no. Maybe in David (the closest larger city to Boquete) or in some other larger city, but I don’t know. The economy of Boquete is in part dependent on it being a safe area. So yes, of course you can wear jewelry and you will not have any problems with that.

The entirety of Boquete is safe. You don’t have to worry about going into any areas in Boquete. However, if you go to David, there are certain places you don’t want to go to because they are unsafe. This was the case for a certain area until recently, when it became safe. As an example, there is a place called Parque Cervantes in David that used to be unsafe. In the past, even the taxi drivers didn’t pick up people in that area of David, but now it is safe. However, in general, there are certain places in David that at 2 AM, you don’t want to walk around.
But in Boquete we never had that problem. I’ve been at parties with my friends and stayed very late and had no problems.

Yes, you can wear jewelry in Boquete and feel safe.
I have a client who is fairly wealthy and flashy. She has this beautiful jewelry, which she wears all the time and she has never had any problems. She wears diamonds, gold, etc. and she did not have a problem doing that at all.
Personally, if I liked wearing expensive jewelry, I would do so in Boquete.
