If you don’t plan to rent a car during your visit, you probably should consider something closer to the town of Boquete for convenience.  Some vacation rentals list themselves as “walking distance to town” when they’re actually 2 to 3 miles from Boquete.  Although that may be walking distance for some, for others that would be well out of their range.  It’s important to ask exactly where the home or condo is located in relation to downtown before making a decision.
 
Also, make sure to you find out if amenities like hot water, Internet and cable TV are available.
 
Your rental price will also be influenced by the time of year you plan to visit Boquete.  Late December through April are the peak months for tourism here and vacation rentals can be in short supply if you don’t make your reservation early.  If you come in the off-season, the supply of places to rent is higher and you can generally negotiate a much better deal.  If you plan to stay for 2 or 3 months, you can generally lower you costs as well.

Linens are often not top quality and there is also often a look of old, well worn and not too attractive wear on the furniture. Some places charge up to 900 USD for short term rentals per month that have only suicide shower heaters for hot water, no hot water in the ill arranged kitchens, no washer or dryer and not enough closet space to handle even a weeks wardrobe. Been there, done that!

 

As the popularity of Boquete grows the rents have been increasing rapidly. What we rented three years ago for $750 per month is now $850. Vacation rentals are the same way. With the Coffee and Flower festival in January, and the Jazz and Blues Festival in March I would imagine that most decent, affordable places were booked up months ago. Still you can go online and find many places that list rentals.

 

I have seen beautiful rentals, comfortable rentals and I have seen plenty of ugly, cheaply furnished and barely tolerable rentals at rates of $750 to $1,000 for short term monthly leases, vacation rentals. So ask questions and if it is not as advertised make them feel your pain. Too many people are getting away with cheesy, tacky rentals and asking prices like they are top of the line hotels!

 

It is important to have a fun and relaxing trip, and getting ripped off by unscrupulous owners/managers is not a relaxing thing. Boquete is beautiful, and some of the rentals here are, too. With that said it takes complaints and reports to get changes. So if it is not as you expected do not be afraid to say so.

There are many prices in Boquete and they will depend on the location and size. Don't forget another important thing to take into consideration are finishes. Luckily that isn't something that most people take in consideration as much as the location itself so if you are lucky and make a good search you could find a nice place to live for not too much money.

Prices can go from 350 USD for a small one bedroom house to 1,200 USD for a nice place or 2,500 USD for a luxurious and exclusive place.

The best way to find rentals in Boquete is to get a Real Estate broker that has a good portfolio of property to show you because you can spend literally weeks or months looking for places by yourself.
