As for festivals or religious holidays that people in Bocas del Toro get involved with, there’s the Semana Santa, which is Easter, and the largest holiday in Panama. Thousands of people take off work for a whole week and come down to Bocas del Toro from Panama City or David. They hang out and enjoy Bocas Town. Government offices are closed. There’s a carnival.
Mother’s Day is a huge holiday in Bocas del Toro. There are more traditional holidays that everybody observes, whether you are an expat or a local.
Bocas Town is the second largest tourist destination in Panama, the Canal being the first. The tourist industry is booming in Bocas Town. There are increasingly more hotels and hostels to accommodate the people coming in.
