Everything from surfing, extreme jungle treks, Canopy ziplines, white water rafting, climbing a dormant volcano, hiking, horseback riding, scuba diving, kayaking, whale watching, indigenous village excursions, etc. etc. The true adventure tourist will not be disappointed in Panama.
Near Isla Coiba and the Pearl islands you can scuba dive or snorkel with whale sharks as well as sea turtles, manta rays and even dolphins and whales.
There are many great surf breaks on the Pacific coast within two hours west of Panama city, as well as the cute surf camp town of Santa Catalina, and also in and around Bocas del Toro on the Caribbean side. There are Canopy ziplines around Colon, Portobelo, El Valle de Anton and Boquete.
Kayaking trips can be arranged on Lake Gatun in the Panama canal, where you can see much wildlife like monkeys, sloths, toucans, even manatees, or on the many rivers, and even combined with an Emberá Indian village tour, or sea kayaking to fish or even Humpback whale watching.
Jungle treks deep into the Darien virgin rainforest can be arranged (must be done with an experienced guide) to view the endangered Harpy Eagle and sleep in an Emberá village as well as hiking one of the many national parks in Panama. (30% of the country is in national parks) including hiking up Volcan Baru, a dormant volcano where you can see both the Pacific and Caribbean oceans from its summit. White water rafting can also be done from Panama City on the Mamoni river, as well as in the Chiriqui province.

There are a LOT of adventure travel and activities in Panama...not only in Panama City but also in the other provinces of Panama.
That is one of the beauties if Panama..::not far from Panama City you can do a lot of adventure travel and activities...and then each province has its share too.
Just to mention some: Close to Panama City you can visit the Embera Indians or the Guna Indians, you can go walking in one of our national parks...

Panamá´s adventure is very well known, in part recently because of TV shows that have chosen Panamá as the location in which to film programs like "Survivor" and others, due the beauty of Panamá´s environment, mountains, beaches, plants and flowers.
Mountain biking, water rafting, hiking and surfing are very popular.
The waves in Coronado, Panamá and Gorgona are especially good for surfing, with surfers from all over the world coming for international competitions here.
Panamá has several national parks, with the "Volcán Barú" being one of the most important ones. Thousands of visitors come here to see the famous "Quetzales" (a bird), and for scientific projects.
Other places known for great beauty and adventure in Panamá are the isle of Coiba, Cerro Colorado, Bahía Piña (in the province of Darién), Golfo las Perlas (in the Pacific Ocean), and Bocas del Toro province, which has many exotic isles and resorts.
The province of Chiriquí is especially well suited for water rafting, due the many rivers that cross this region.
El Valle de Antón is also another good place to enjoy outdoors activities and lots of adventure.
One piece of advice, though, is if you want to take part in adventure travel, always go with a local guide. Mountains and forests in Panamá can be tricky and very isolated.
The government's Authority of Tourism can guide you with proper information on licensed guided tour agencies, that offer all kinds of packages at different prices. You can also contact the private Chamber of Commerce, or the local Chamber of Tourism for further information.
Of course, nobody leaves the country of Panamá without visiting the Panamá Canal, which is in the city of Panamá, or city of Panamá itself, which is an impressive cosmopolitan city, combining the old and modern world.

Although new to the world of Adventure Travel, Panama has a lot to offer. Hiking, kayaking, fishing, jungle trekking, ziplining are just a few of the activities that you can now do around Panama.
Depending on your schedule, you can fit a lot of these activities into a week long, or two week long adventure tour of Panama. Try ziplining in Boquete, surfing on the Pacific side or in Bocas, and kayaking or fishing in the Panama Canal.

In the Panama City area, the Miraflores Locks is the number one tourist attraction but there are so many other areas to visit! Experience the past with visits to Fort San Lorenzo and the Portobelo forts. Looking for some activities to break up the day? Snorkel and scuba are popular in Portobelo. We always use Rey from Golden Frog Scuba. He is reliable and consistent and our guests enjoy their days! Portobelo also offers a rescue zoo.
Closer to Panama City is the Gamboa rain forest, where you may choose to do some peacock bass fishing, a one hour boat ride on the canal, visit the Rain Forest Discovery center or do an early morning Pipeline Road hike to see the local wild life. Jungle Land is always popular for a full day activity for our guests (both staying in the city or from the beaches).
In the beach area you can choose to hike, swim at the Coronado Water falls, ATV up in El Valle, stand up paddle board or visit a coffee plantation or go for a walk or swim at the beach.

From canopy adventures, to paddle boarding, tubing, rafting, hiking, spelunking and wet rappelling - those are all available in Panama.
