Panama has all of these-- mountains, volcanoes, beaches, lakes waterfalls and rainforests. The volcanoes however are not active. The beauty of Panama is the diversity so you can find the right area to settle and still travel a short distance to experience different environments. Beautiful beaches from the Pacific to the Caribbean.

Panama is a very diverse location with many gorgeous natural locations to visit. There are many beautiful mountains, rainforests, waterfalls and a dormant volcano. Panama is very well known for its beaches and islands as well, such as San Blas and Bocas del Toro.

Panama has a wonderful geography. We are in the middle of two oceans 80 kilometers (about 50 miles) apart. We also have rivers, mountains, lakes, and jungles. This is the only place in the Americas that has a jungle 25 minutes away from a major city (Panama City; my home). If you want to see a jungle in Brazil and you are in Sau Paulo, you have to take a jet and fly five hours to Manaos, but here in Panama, I just drive down the street and I will end up in the jungle. If you want to see a jungle in Brazil and you are in Sau Paulo, you have to take a jet and fly five hours to Manaos, but here in Panama, I just drive down the street and I will end up in the jungle. It’s amazing! The reason for this is because for 100 years, the US was managing the Panama Canal and they knew that they have to conserve those jungles because the Panama Canal is fed by fresh water. They need a lot of water to run the canal and the only way to do that is to protect the forest around the canal. The US protected the jungles for 100 years and when Panama took over, we created national parks. The park is literally just a 10-minute drive from my home. The jungles, rivers, lakes are the wonders of Panama.
If I want to go fishing for a peacock bass, I will be at the most wonderful lake in an hour. If I want to go deep-sea fishing, I just have to drive about an hour and a half I you will be fishing for marlins.
Panama also has highlands where the climate is fresh like in Boquete and Cerro Punta. We also have hundreds of beaches so you can take your pick on the best location for you.

In western Azuero where I live, we have an abundance of rivers, waterfalls, and swimming holes. Waterfalls come right down to the ocean, out of the sheer rock cliff. Even during the dry season, waterfalls and swimming holes are still flowing in our neighborhood. We have rainforests here. It’s not as much like 50 years ago but we have national parks and rainforests. There’s rainforest along the Caribbean side, which is a lot denser here than on the Pacific side, which has more development. The most dramatic beautiful beaches, coves, inlets that you can imagine are in some remote places but are very expensive to go to.
There are beautiful islands and beaches, however, which can still be purchased for $1,500 an acre. An example is Cebaco Island, which is right in front of Western Azuero. It is a beautiful, big island and there are lots of properties. About six years ago, Harvard University bought 2,500 hectares of land (more than nine and a half square miles) on Cebaco Island for a research facility. Some biologists conducted their research at the Harvard Project just a couple of months ago there.
