Are there volcanoes in Panama? Are any active?

Yes there are two volcanoes in Panama, although none of them are active. There is the most well known, Volcan Baru in the province of Chiriqui near the Costa Rica border. Volcan Baru is classified as dormant. It is beautiful and you have great views from many of the nearby towns, such as Volcan and Boquete. You can hike up to the top and see both the Pacific and Caribbean oceans from the summit. The other volcano is extinct. El Valle de Anton...

El Valle de Anton is a cute little town located inside the crater walls of this volcano. In fact, it is the only town in the world located inside the crater walls of an extinct volcano. As a result there are some unique flora and fauna in El Valle that exists only within the crater walls, such as the Golden frog and Square trees. I highly recommend a visit to both volcano areas, they are each beautiful in their own right.

There are two volcanoes in Panama but neither of them are active. One is located at Chiriqui and other one at El Valle de Anton. The one in Chiriqui is called Volcan Baru and has the towns of Volcan and Boquete around it. The community of El Valle de Anton is actually located in the crater of a volcano which is why you'll find thermal water there. Both communities are located more than 1500 feet above sea level which is why you'll find lower...

The community of El Valle de Anton is actually located in the crater of a volcano which is why you'll find thermal water there. Both communities are located more than 1500 feet above sea level which is why you'll find lower temperatures and very green areas with rivers and waterfalls. Altos del Maria, where I work, is only 6 kilometers from el Valle and has the same weather.

I've lived in Nicaragua and Panama. Panama is not like Nicaragua, which has 18 volcanoes, about half of which are active.
In Panama, there’s one volcano up in the Santa Fe Mountains and there’s one up in near Boquete in the mountains. Neither are active.
