If you do this, please make certain to leave enough time to travel between each airport. (The traffic can be fairly heavy, so please take this into consideration.)

There are 2 closest airports to Panama...it all depends where you are coming from or going to.  We have the "Tocumen International Airport", where all the international flights arrive.  This airport is about a 35 to 45 minute ride into Panama City...depending on which hotel you will be staying at in Panama City, and what time you arrive and how the traffic is at that time.

 

The other airport is known as "Albrook Airport" which is our regional airport.  You use this airport to go to Chiriqui, Bocas del Toro, San Blas, Contadora...all regional flights.

The Albrook Airport is about a 45 minute ride from Tocumen Airport.

In addition to Tocumen, there are also other local airports like the new Rio Hato, Albrook, David, Chitré, Isla Bocas, Changuinola, and some in Darién, for smaller airplanes, as well as for international flights.

In Canada, there is Toronto and Quebec. LATAM regional includes Havana, Mexico City, Cancun, Santiago, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Guatemala City and more. There are also flights to Spain and other European destinations are in the works. Recently flights to Venezuela were suspended due to debt problems.

As far as airport expansions in country, there have been some improvements. The airports in David, Bocas del Toro and Rio Hato have been, or are being, upgraded to international status.
