Copa is Panama's primary international carrier and is one of the most successful airlines in the world. To date you can get direct flights to cities like New York, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, Boston, Tampa & Chicago in the States. In Canada, there is Toronto and Quebec. LATAM regional includes Havana, Mexico City, Cancun, Santiago, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Guatemala City and more. There are also flights to Spain and other European destinations are in the works. Recently flights to Venezuela were suspended due to debt problems.
As far as airport expansions in country, there have been some improvements. The airports in David, Bocas del Toro and Rio Hato have been, or are being, upgraded to international status.
