Ever since it was a colony in the 16th century, Panamá has been the obliged path from North to South and East to West, as a trade and tourism hub for visitors.
It´s not unusual then, that today, Panamá still continues to welcome visitors on a great scale, and improving its infrastructure every day in order to offer the best comfort for both commercial and tourist objectives.
Compañía Panameña de Aviación (COPA AIRLINES) is the national airline of Panamá, founded in 1947, with a float of new Boeing airplanes. COPA is a member of Mileage Plus in partnership with United, and is the official HUB of the Americas, with more than 66 destinations and serving 29 countries. COPA has direct flights to many countries, including the US to Tampa, Washington DC (Dulles), Las Vegas, Orlando, Miami, Boston, NY, as well as Dallas, Los Angeles and Toronto (Canada), without counting hundreds of direct flights and connections to South and Central America. It is also the only airline that continues to offer their passengers warm meals and other benefits as courtesy. It is also a member of Global Connection.
The main international airport, TOCUMEN (pictured to the right), has invested over $700 million, has 34 gates, moved over 6 million passengers and has had over 100,000 flight operations. Those numbers are radically changing as renovations are constantly taking place, and new improvements are currently on their way with new terminals. Also all local airports have been renovated, and a new airport (Río Hato) has recently opened to offer better services.
But COPA is not the only airline serving Panamá. For years, Delta, American Airlines, Spirit Airlines, KLM, IBERIA, Air France, Avianca, Lacsa, Lan Chile, Avianca, FedEx, DHL, TNT, among others, have offered excellent service and direct flights to Amsterdam, Paris, Madrid, extended throughout Asia, the Middle and Far East, Australia, and remote places. Some classic airlines like PanAm, Braniff International and others also served Panama for years, before they closed or merged. China Airlines, Aeroflot and El Air were also some of the airlines serving Panamá in the past.. As others has requested service, like Lufthansa .
There are also some other airlines going into the Caribbean, or other places not mentioned here, for lack of space.
In other words, you can get any connection in Panamá, no matter what is your final destination, but at the same time, having fun in the process.
