Yes, you can buy furniture in Panama. However this depends on
A. What kind of furniture.
B. What material you are looking for.
For the most part, local carpenters are capable of crafting whatever you require at
a bargain price. However, for those looking for crushed leather couches, bronze seats and other luxury items, the major cities (David, Panama City, etc) are where you should be hunting. Bear in mind that the prices for said items...

You can for sure buy furniture in Panama, and there are quite a few furniture stores where you can find really good pieces. There are some that sell really cheap furniture but may not be of the best quality, and the rest can be very expensive but you can always look out for their sales that are usually done in most stores every couple months.

The furniture market in Panama has evolved in the last 12 months. Also, on the road to Penonome (Interamericana Highway) you will find several wood workshops for custom made real-wood tables, chairs, etc. Lots of new stores with good quality and prices for all budgets and furniture styles in Panama. Cheers! KM

Panamá offers a variety of products, either local or imported for all tastes and budgets, from all countries, mainly from Asia. Locals, as well as new-comers, will find furniture that is prime as well as inexpensive and basic, in many popular stores in shopping centers and malls around the country.

Some of the more popular stores that carry all kinds of furniture are: La Onda, El Costo, La Oca Loca or Saks; stores that you can find easily in the major cities.
It´s very common to also find bronze or antique pieces in some stores. But there is another option-- customized furniture, especially in the area of Chitré (in the middle of the country) where this technique has been offered for years and where you will find experts in the art of making fine furniture, at very reasonable prices.
Only If you have a family treasure or a very fine piece, is it necessary to find the cost to bring it with you.

Of course one can buy furniture in Panama. The better question is "Will you find what you like?" Putting cost aside, the varied options are easy to browse. Not having visited every furniture store in Panama, we were unable to find the cushy-type, overstuffed leather or the over-sized futons that fit our personal taste in the many stores that we did visit. I have heard many complaints about the "firm" seating of popular low to mid-priced living...

Not having visited every furniture store in Panama, we were unable to find the cushy-type, overstuffed leather or the over-sized futons that fit our personal taste in the many stores that we did visit. I have heard many complaints about the "firm" seating of popular low to mid-priced living room sets. For us they were comfortable (although not accommodating for overnight guests), but the patterns were not what we wanted. Contemporary style furniture is readily available in various stores, but once again...not our preferred style.
Local hand-crafted items are also a great option. Easy to find and easy to order, these not only provide opportunity for some unique pieces but also support the local economy. We had some tables made. We took sketches to a local woodworker and explained exactly what we wanted. We couldn't be happier with our self-designed tables. When our shipped items arrive, we will have a wooden frame made for our king size bed.

Yes, you can buy furniture in Panama. There are different kinds of furniture here in Panama and most of the furniture that are made here are made of wood. Panamanian craftsmen use wood from Bocas Del Toro, which is called cocobolo. Most of the owners of the handmade furniture stores here are Guna Indians from San Blas Islands. Panama is not known internationally as a place that makes furniture but you can definitely get handmade furniture from the Gunas. They can also use different...

You can also buy more standard furniture from the malls and shops all over Panama. However, most malls have China-made furniture.
Panama is also known for making very nice hamacas (hammocks) with different colors and unique designs.

Not only can you buy furniture in Panama but you can actually go to Ashley Furniture and buy Ashley Furniture in Panama. There are people who have all sorts of furniture from around the world but if you just have to have that American style furniture, yes, you can get that here.

I love furniture that is made on the side of the road where they use a big chunk of tree, slice it, stain it, and put a glass on top of it for an outdoor dining table or an indoor dining table. I had bar stools made of solid teak that are handmade. I have a couch that would be made in the US. I don’t know why I bought a US-made couch but it was 60% off so I bought it.
Overall, you could get everything here in Panama that you would want. There is Roche Bobois, which is a French furniture store. You can also buy Italian furniture and many others. Because Panama is so international, the kitchen cabinets in my condo were made in Italy. My cabinets came as part of the package, which was included, so they buy a large volume and get a good price but I’ve done a kitchen where I had a local craftsman make the kitchen cabinets out of teak. It was one fourth the cost of what you would call regular price, which is what it would have cost if you bought Ashley Furniture. Then you could go crazy and buy Italian or French custom-made furniture. In short, the buffet of furniture is in Panama.

My name is Alex, I represent a new furniture company in Panama. Just wanted to jump in and let you know about some of our offerings.
Our mission at Casa Suarez is to change the way people think about furniture. To move away from the realm of "storage" and into a centerpiece. We specialize in all kinds of wood furnishings, from Indian rosewood to Thailand Teak. And while the obvious reasoning behind this would be that it looks nice, we believe each piece tells a story. A story of the journey nature goes through to form and shape each piece. That's why every table, cabinet, nightstand, and bed frame we sell is completely unique.
The word unique gets thrown around a lot, and I understand if you question it's use now, but if you have a moment see for yourself! We have gathered artistry, woodwork, craftsmanship, and design from across Asia under one name, Casa Suarez.
