Is there diving, SCUBA or snorkeling in and around San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua?

The waters in San Juan del Sur would be considered a little murky for diving and snorkeling. To get clear water, you really have to pay attention to the tides. San Juan del Sur has many rivers that come from the mountains, and these bring debris, which created murky waters.
When there is clear water, the diving and snorkeling is great.

There is good snorkeling and diving in San Juan Del Sur.
The best time to go diving and snorkeling is from January up to the beginning of April. The months of November and December are good times for diving as well, once the rain stops and when the sedimentation of rivers stop flowing into the ocean. The water gets very clear for snorkeling and for spear fishing during this time.

I am an avid speak fisher so I know how clear the waters here in San Juan Del Sur can get. You can easily get a visibility of 20 to 60 feet on the most crystal clear days in the ocean.
There is a place inside San Juan Del Sur that can give you a scuba certification.
