The people of San Juan Del Sur are called San Juaneños. These are the people who have always lived in San Juan Del Sur. Their families live there, and they have lived there ever since. There might be some people who live there because of work, but they are originally from somewhere else in Nicaragua.

San Juan Del Sur was a fishing village, but now it is diversified, so you will now see a lot of different businesses. A lot of the locals still work in fishery, but not like it was before. Now, the residents of San Juan Del Sur have different sources of income such as working in fisheries, restaurants and bars, stores and shops, supermarkets, farmers who work in the mercado (market), being handymen, etc.
San Juan Del Sur is a small working city now, so it is no longer just a fishing village. You will see a couple of banks, hotels, pubs, etc. There is a little bit of everything in San Juan Del Sur.

San Juan Del Sur has very well mixed communities of both Nicaraguan locals or natives; people who were born and who grew up in San Juan Del Sur and lived there their whole lives. There are also people who come from all around the world who are residents of San Juan del Sur. Some come from South America, and the more obvious ones are from North America, like the US and Canada. There are also a lot of Europeans, Spaniards, Portuguese, and people from France.

The people who are living in San Juan Del Sur are a pretty mixed pack and although an overwhelming percentage of the expats here are older Canadians, there is also a mix of some younger and middle-aged folks. But of course, percentage-wise, the vast majority of the residents of San Juan Del Sur are native Nicaraguans. They are about 65% - 75% of the population.
