Most of the expats in San Juan Del Sur are young people. A lot of people come to Nicaragua not to retire but just because they like it here. Some expats choose to live in San Juan Del Sur just to enjoy the surf. I’ve seen people who are 24 to 30 years old, who move in and buy a house or rent in San Juan Del Sur because of the surf. Only about 5% - 10% of expats are senior citizens who retired in San Juan Del Sur.
