People who have their own boats go fishing in Lake Nicaragua, in fresh water reserves, or in rivers. Most people prefer to go fishing in Granada which is on Lake Nicaragua (30 minutes away from Managua). If you have a boat, there’s a small marina there that you can use and go fishing. A national fishing competition is held there about 2 or 3 times a year. Nicaraguans don’t do sports fishing that often even if they have the resources and the money to do it.
Commercial fishing is common here in Nicaragua where they catch fish from the ocean and then bring the catch to Managua to sell it. Some types of fish that you can catch in Nicaragua are Sargo, Sea Bass, and Snapper.
