What does it cost for a vacation rental in Managua, Nicaragua?

The city of Managua doesn’t have many (or any) vacation rentals. I’ve never seen what I would call a VRBO-type place that would interest most expats.

Managua is a cultural city and the capital, so there are people coming in and out all the time. You can get a room in Managua by the night for roughly US $40, which includes a couple of eggs and a littlte gallo pinto for breakfast the next day. That’s for the smallest little boutique hotel that you don’t know about because you can’t see them.
The city of Managua also has the Intercontinental, Holiday Inn or Hilton, with rooms from $120-$125 / night, also including a very nice buffet breakfast.
We do, however, have vacation rentals here in Gran Pacifica and in other places located in what we call the tourist area, at the beach, about an hour from Managua. For example, Gran Pacifica has a weekly and monthly rentals, even annual rentals now, on some of the houses in our development.
The cost for a vacation rental at the beach area depends on what you want. As an example only, the least expensive homes would be something like a 2-bedroom, 2-bath casita located 650 meters (about a 10 minute walk) from the beach, that would cost $800 / month plus utilities. The longer term more expensive condos right on the beach are about 1,700 square feet and also 2 bedroom and 2 bath, with air conditioning, washers and dryers that run from $1,800 - $2,000 / month plus utilities.
