Are there American-trained doctors in Managua, Nicaragua?

Yes, there are doctors in Nicaragua that have received some or all of their training in the United States or Canada. However, my experience is that most of those that have North American training did so by attending post-graduate courses in the US. I am not aware of one single location that provides a complete list of US or Canadian trained doctors. I am not aware of one single location that provides a complete list of US or Canadian trained doctors. I have taken a friend to the Vivian Peles Hospital in Managua (Carretera Masaya) and asked for a doctor in the specialty that was needed and also asked for a doctor that speaks English. I also have American friends that have used the same approach. I would say that the Americans that I have talked to, including my friend, have been pleased with the service and care they received.

Yes, of course, there are plenty of American-trained doctors in Managua, Nicaragua. There are doctors that are local graduates and a couple of doctors who earned their licenses from abroad as well. Managua has plenty private clinics with all types of specialties, and there are hospitals with the same, of course. There are definitely lots of trained and qualified doctors in Managua.
The quality of the training of the doctors in Managua is good. It’s difficult to compare...

The quality of the training of the doctors in Managua is good. It’s difficult to compare Nicaraguan education to what you can find in the US or Europe. There is definitely going to be a difference, but the doctors here are still good. Many of the physicians earned their specialties abroad. There are many physicians here who trained in various fields of specialization abroad and come back to Nicaragua to start their clinics.

Even though the local medical education could be a bit less in terms of quality than what you could find in the US or Europe, many of our physicians have studied and received degrees abroad, and the over-all attention you get in Nicaragua is first class.
