What's the crime rate in general in Managua, Nicaragua?

Personally as a women I think Managua, Nicaragua is very safe. Some crimes situations are expected if you go in to wrong neighborhoods but there aren't that many in the city. Usually Managua is very safe for tourists.

We have even gotten them to go to cities and townships in various places to operate and heal lives and till this day it has been great for them.
My recommendations will be always know where you are heading to and be cautious just like you would be at home or your town. I have lived in the USA, Taiwan and around the Latin American region and comparing to those countries where I also felt safe its pretty similar for Managua. In general its pretty safe here :)
BTW I can go to have drinks and to the club and come back driving alone to my house and I have never ever been in an situation where i felt my life was at risk, in danger or where I was in a bad situation.
