Are there English-speaking doctors in Granada, Nicaragua?

Finding an English speaking doctor in Granada Nicaragua is not hard to do. There are several, for example, a surgeon / GP who is actually Cuban, Dr Blanco; an ophthalmologist; and another doctor who runs a lab for all your blood work. That isn't many, I know, but it's a start and a prelude to the real care that is given at any of three good to great hospitals in Managua. For routine check ups, flu shots and sore throats, Granada has it covered, in English, but one has to travel 45 minutes to a state of the art hospital for the more complicated stuff.
I know for a fact that Dr. Blanco has seen me for high blood pressure and then turned around and performed minor surgery minutes later. You have to be flexible to live and work here and doctors aren't any different than the rest of us as it turns out!!

Yes, there are some English-speaking doctors in Granada. Of all the doctors here in Granada, around a quarter of them speak very good English.
There is a private hospital here where you can go and pay for the consult. There are also small clinics where the doctors speak English. They even have a sign outside of the establishments saying, “English spoken here.”

Usually, only the doctors speak English. The medical staff usually do not. It is easy to identify which doctors speak English because of that sign outside of their clinics. There are enough doctors here in Granada that finding one who speaks English is not a problem.
If you need some lab tests done, some staff in the laboratories speak English, too.

Last weekend, my fiancee had an issue with her teeth and was able to see an English dentist Saturday afternoon even though he only works Saturday morning. The dental office was not 100% clean but the service as she said was amazing and the cost to replace her crown was US$360.00. Overall she was very pleased with the service and follow up. Everything was delivered on time and on budget!
