Are the doctors in Granada, Nicaragua good?

Although small, Granada, Nicaragua does have some very good doctors on all levels. There are good dentists, eye doctors, pediatricians and general practitioners in Granada for your basic needs. And, believe it or not, they make house calls!

One of my favorite GPs hails from Cuba and he is always ready and willing to meet patients in their homes. With our property management company, we have clients who fall ill and he is there for them, speaks English and has a great bedside manner. The best thing is it won't break the bank and you do not have to have insurance!

Generally speaking, the doctors in Granada are good.
If you need to have a procedure done, you’ll most likely have it done in Managua, about a 30 – 40 minute drive away from Granada, which is where the best hospitals in Nicaragua are located.
I’ve had several operations in Nicaragua. I’ve found the medical care here very service oriented, very thorough, and very reasonably priced.

I don’t know if Nicaragua has the amount or variety of specialists that they have in the US, but I would say that for most issues, you an find a very good doctor in Managua for surgery and related issues. They’re very good. In Managua there are some very modern hospitals with a variety of doctors who have been educated in other parts of the world and who offer very good service.

Granada, Nicaragua has private doctors that are fine. As evidence of that are the wealthy people who stay in Granada to visit the general practitioners. There are good obstetricians in Granada as well.

If you live in Granada, Hospital Metropolitano Vivian Pellas is the closest private hospital, located in Managua, about half an hour to 45 minutes away by car, on the same road that goes from Granada to Managua. This is the largest hospital in the country.
The doctors in Granada are good for general medicine, but for specialist care, you could go to Managua, which is not that far away.
