Hiking in the jungle and cloud forest is a fun activity and seeing or at least hearing howler monkeys is an almost certain guarantee. Somoto Canyon offers the chance to float in a gorge carved by the Rio Coco and for the daring, jump from cliffs into the deep trenches in some spots.
Golf in Nicaragua is just catching on and the coast has 3 courses so far, Guacalito, Iguana, and Gran Pacifica. Managua has a country club, Nejapa, that is open for memberships. Club Teraza is a city club in Managua with tennis courts, racquetball, squash, a gymnasium, swimming pool, dance, yoga and fitness rooms, fine dining and causal pool fare.
