How's the horseback riding in and around Nicaragua?

There is a lot of opportunity for horseback riding in Nicaragua. The horse culture here is quite strong, from the high-end, Andalusian horses that put on shows, to the campesinos, who utilize a horse to get from one place to another. The number one place to go horseback riding, according to Trip Advisor is Rancho Chilamate (2 hours away from Managua by car). There are several places you could go to in Nicaragua in order to experience different types of riding. You can also go to Rancho Santana, which is near Tola (73 miles south of Managua) There are even some long haul trips up north such as the one in Chinandega (1 hour and 45 minutes away from Managua by car). An example of a long haul ride is when you do a two-day adventure (for example) with the locals in the back to deliver local goods. That sort of riding is available here.

The riding experience in Rancho Santana is different than in my place because, we do allow people to ride local horses but in a North American style, whereas a lot of the other places will let you ride Nicaraguan style, with their saddles and other riding gear.
