How's the hiking and camping in and around Nicaragua?

Nicaragua has many nature reserves, hills, mountains, and volcanoes for hiking. In some of them, especially nature reserves, there are established trails for hiking. Some of them are the Mombacho Volcano, which is a private reserve that offers 3 trails that vary in distance and time (2-5 hours). Another nature reserve is Indio Maiz, where hiking is allowed only with a local guide and for a limited time. Another option with trails for hiking is La Garnacha, a...

Another nature reserve is Indio Maiz, where hiking is allowed only with a local guide and for a limited time. Another option with trails for hiking is La Garnacha, a rural community within a nature reserve. Besides hiking, the place offers other activates as for volunteering in agricultural, vermiculture, cattle, and medicinal plant processes. Other nature reserves in Matagalpa, Jinotega, Nueva Segovia were originally coffee plantations; now people may hike through these mountains and enjoy pure air and impressive views.
Another type of hiking, a more adventurous hiking, can be performed on volcanos. On the Pacific side of Nicaragua, there are about 10 accessible volcanoes with heights varying from 700-1,700 meters (about 2,300 to 5,600 feet). Hiking or climbing these volcanoes may take between 5 to 10 hours. It is a unique experience within vegetation, rocks, sand. One of the best things is the view at the top.
On the other hand, camping is not so common in Nicaragua, and there are no specific sites for camping. Nevertheless, camping is accepted in many nature reserves and volcanoes-only with a granted permission.

Hiking in Nicaragua is very good. It is a land of volcanoes and lakes and there are many opportunities for hiking. Camping does not seem to be a part of what happens here so much because camping usually puts you in isolation after dark. I think camping would be a risk when you are on secluded beaches.
Some of the famous hikes in the area would be on Ometepe Island and Masaya Volcano is a renowned hike. Most tourists do a local hike in San Juan Del Sur to "the Jesus...

Some of the famous hikes in the area would be on Ometepe Island and Masaya Volcano is a renowned hike. Most tourists do a local hike in San Juan Del Sur to "the Jesus statue", which has a breathtaking view of the bay. This hike has also been introduced as a workout and people do it early in the morning in groups.

Hiking is starting to get popular here in Nicaragua, even though it is not yet very popular. You would see more foreigners go hiking and camping than local Nicaraguans.
There are places in the northern part of Nicaragua that are natural parks where you can go and spend a day or two. People go camping in tents there.
