Can I see beautiful flowers, plants and trees in or around Nicaragua?

The trees and plants in Nicaragua are very beautiful. We have the malinche (pictured), which is a bright orange tree that blooms two times a year. It is a very big tree that turns a very bright orange at the beginning of the rainy season and at the end of the rainy season. We have roads here in Nicaragua that are lined with these trees and it is gorgeous.

You can definitely see beautiful flowers, plants and trees in or around San Juan del Sur. Without a doubt. Plus you will see animals, reptiles and snakes.
You have to get out of San Juan del Sur in order to see the flowers, plants and trees. You have to go through the back roads and the forest that is behind San Juan del Sur. In San Juan, you will only see houses and roads and streets. That’s it.

You will see flowers, trees and plants after 5 minutes of driving, 10 minutes of biking or 20 minutes of walking. These are a mile away. Once you leave the last street, it is an entire forest behind.
Among the flowers you will see are the Girasol (which is the Sunflower), the Cobano and Amapola.

One of my favorite places to see beautiful plants and trees in Nicaragua is the Mombacho volcan with its cloud forest. It's one of only two spots in Nicaragua with this type of forest, which is said to be home for over 700 different plants.
Two of those plants that always impress me a lot are the huge tree ferns and the myriad of bromeliads growing on trunks and branches.

There are several trails you can hike there. We did the longest one, the Puma trail, and it is for sure worth it!

Yes, of course, you can see beautiful flowers, plants and trees in Nicaragua. Any kind of tropical flowers that are common, such as orchids, and any kind of coconut trees, avocado trees, citrus trees, you can have it here. It’s a tropical climate so can have tropical flowers. You just see them walking around. For example, I have three coconut trees in front of me right now.

We’re located on the outskirts of Managua, about 10 minutes from the actual center of Managua. So we’re kind of in the city but outside of the city; it’s more of a residential place. Typically we see what people plant. They plant coconut trees and pretty flowers and things like that.
Of course, here in Nicaragua you get everything that you wouldn’t get in a cold climate. There’s a lot of coconuts, avocados, papayas, the tropical fruits. Nicaragua has a lot more colorful variety, because we don’t have snow.

You will definitely see beautiful flowers, plants, and trees in and around Nicaragua. The areas of Estelí, Matagalpa, and Jinotega get a lot of rain and they have really nice weather so these places are where you could get really beautiful flowers.

There is also another place, about 25 minutes away from Managua, where you can go and buy plants and take them home to plant it in your garden or your office. When you go to Catarina, you will find nurseries where plants and flowers are grown for sale. Catarina is a very colorful city because you will find different types of flowers and trees and other types of artists’ works that are for sale. On weekends, you will find lots of cars parked in and around Catarina because lots of people from Managua, Leon, and other areas go there to buy plants, flowers, and trees. It’s a nice place where you can find lots of beautiful items for sale.
In Managua, which is the capital, we don’t have a lot of native trees. If you want to see indigenous trees you may see them in the northern parts of the country where they grow by themselves into really big trees. When you go to places in the north like Estelí, Matagalpa, and Jinotega, you will see big trees like large pine trees. In Matagalpa, you can go to Selva Negra, which is a resort in the highlands and there you can be in nature. You’ll find these big trees where monkeys also inhabit.
