If I rent in Nicaragua, how can I make certain it's not a scam?

The best way to rent in Nicaragua and be sure it is not a scam, is to have the renter verify that he is the true owner of the property or at least that he is representing the owner. You should at least have a look at the title of the property and the POA in case somebody is representing the true owner.
In both cases you are able to perform a private agreement or a Public Deed before a Notary Public, the second one being the recommended way to proceed.
