What do I need to know about pet shipping to Nicaragua, pet travel to Nicaragua and pet transport to Nicaragua?

For pet travel to Nicaragua, you have to get your certification. It’s the same thing as if you’re importing cattle to another country. It’s not a difficult procedure.
You need your letters from your vet. The most expensive thing for me was that PetSmart charged me $700 for two dogs for the shots, certification and to fill out a double-page form with about 12 questions. Given how much they charge, I suggest you go to your own private vet for that.

There is no quarantine but your pet has to have a current rabies shot—all your shots must be current. Here, because you’re in the tropics, they have to have a rabies shot every six months. Nobody is going to bang on your door and ask you when you got your shots. You don’t need to go to a City Hall to get a license for your dog, none of that.
How to ship your dogs goes by weight; how big your dogs are. I think if the dog is less than 40 pounds, you can bring on in the passenger compartment. That’s what I did. It is not suggested during summer time to ship your dog as freight.
If you have a dog that is certified—an emotional dog, a handicap dog—then the airlines will not charge you for that animal. In this case, it could be any size; it will go on the plane with you.

Bringing your pet with you to Nicaragua is very straight forward. I brought my dog here several times before I moved permanently.
You get a health certificate from your vet at home and export certificate, which I believe is around $25. It’s a stamp by your vet at home that says that your dog has received vaccinations and is up to date with worming, etc.
You bring that, they check through those documents and you bring your pet...

You bring that, they check through those documents and you bring your pet straight in. So other than a few straight forward to gather certificates prior to leaving your home country, bringing your pet with you to Nicaragua is not a problem at all.
