The process and charges are similar to what happened when I moved my stuff from California to Costa Rica in 1997. My freight forwarder in Costa Rica told me to give him a list of everything in the container and put a price on each item. In Nicaragua, the import duty is up to 20% or 30% of the value of your cargo. Therefore, it may be a good idea to put the yard sale price of your items.
The duty is not the same amount for all the things you have in your container. For example, the duty on the TV might be 30% and for your boxes of clothes, 10%. You should be realistic on your yard sale prices.
