How do I transfer to my Nicaragua bank account?
Mike Cobb - ECI Development
Transferring money to Nicaragua is easy once you have a bank account set up. There are 3 major Nicaraguan banks: BanPro, BanCentro, and BAC. All three have U.S. Dollar accounts but you probably need to be a resident in order to open an account. Transfers after an account is open can be by wire, or if you have an account at BAC, their BAC Florida account can receive a transfer from a US bank and then credit on the funds to your account at BAC Nicaragua.

It is easy to transfer money to your Nicaraguan bank account. Wire transfers are the most common ways to transfer funds here. It usually takes a couple of days to complete a wire transfer. You can have bank accounts in three currencies: cordobas - which is our national currency-, US dollars and Euros. There are no restrictions to transfer money in or out of Nicaragua, but you do have to support the origin of the funds for transactions over US$ 10,000.00.

if you open a bank account in places like Granada or San Juan del Sur, you do not have to prove you are a Nicaraguan resident, but for some strange reason if a non resident tries to open a bank account elsewhere they will be told you have to be a resident, so if you are not a resident and want to open a bank account, drive to Granada or San Juan and done!

An easy way to transfer money to your bank account in Nicaragua from anywhere can be by just writing a check - if you have a checkbook for your foreign account - and doing a deposit in your Nicaraguan account. It will take three weeks to clear but the transaction will be free of charge. This is addition to transferring money via wire transfer, as mentioned by Mr. Cobb and Mr. Corrales in other answers to this question.
