How good are the vets in Nicaragua? Where are the best vets in Nicaragua?
Mike Cobb - ECI Development
The veterinarians in Nicaragua vary from poor to excellent, probably much like most of the world. Word of mouth is the best way to get a good vet who’s reliable and well trained. Veterinarians are inexpensive in Nicaragua for sure.

Even in the area around the little town where I live, Masatepe (about 40 minutes from Granada, Nicaragua), we have four or five veterinarians.
In Managua and in every town I’m aware of in Nicaragua, there are many, many veterinarians.
The reason we have so many vets in Nicaragua is that, in Nicaragua, veterinarians are not just for household pets like dogs and cats; they’re for farm animals like cattle as well....

There’s quite a bit of veterinary care in Nicaragua. I just met a veterinarian a month ago who was trained in the United States.
I believe that, for example, if you bring your dog or your cat with you to Nicaragua, you’re going to be able to receive the same care as you would in the US.

You’ll also find that the prices for veterinary care in Nicaragua are quite a bit less than in the US.

Granada, Nicaragua has three or four veterinary clinics, not as many as Managua.
Several organizations were formed in Granada to help the pets in the streets and that also provide private service to pet owners. We also have just private vet clinics.
The vets in Granada are good.
People have pets in Granada; they travel with them all over.

The vets in Nicaragua are very good. I know this because I have one dog that I always bring to a vet
Most of the vets here in Nicaragua studied at various veterinary schools abroad so many of them are English-speakers.
Also, the veterinary service fee here in Nicaragua is affordable. I think it’s around US $20 - $25.
