Can I get a good caregiver in Nicaragua and what is the cost of a good caregiver in Nicaragua?

In Nicaragua, we don’t really have “caregivers”. Instead, if someone has this type of need, they contract with nurses, which are readily available. You can contract with nurses if you need someone to help you, for example, with bathing, to give you your medicine, injections, dressing, and generally getting around.

In Nicaragua, we don’t have nursing homes for older people. In Nicaragua, it is very inexpensive to hire a nurse, so you could hire someone to help you 24 / 7. The best live in, qualified nurse in Nicaragua to care for an older person would cost you approximately US $500 per month.

I haven’t seen a lot of people who have caregivers here in Nicaragua, but we are discussing it more, at least here in Granada. For less than US $300 per month, you can have somebody live with you and assist you. Fully trained nurses would be around $400 to $500 per month. They can care for you to the extent of their knowledge, similar to how it is in the US, where they can only care up to a certain point and then they refer back to the doctor.

There is no formal caregiver provider business in Nicaragua. You need to find somebody who would provide this kind of service.
Local families take care of their elderly. Nicaragua does not have a social program where the government sends a caregiver to take care of old people. Most of our old age homes are public services, which are not the best places to go because they offer very basic services and are usually for low income families.

Families with a higher income usually hire either a nurse with a fixed salary or a family doctor to take care of old members of their family. Only families with money can hire a caregiver.
The salary for a full-time caregiver is US $300 to $400 a month. In the United States, the cost of a full-time caregiver is $6,000 to $7,000 a month.
