How much rain does Yucatan: Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen, Cancun, Merida, etc get? When is the Rainy Season and the Dry Season in Yucatan: Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen, Cancun, Merida, etc and what is it like?
Wade Yarchan - Yucatan Beach Homes
The rainy season here in Yucatan is summer. When you go to Merida, it rains almost every day between 4 PM and 5 PM. It cools the city down just as it needed.
Here at the beach, the rainy season is pretty much typically during late June, July, August, and September. At the beach we still do not get rain every day. A lot of the Yucatan is almost like the desert climate. It is very dry and you don’t have the high humidity levels. When we do get rain, the high humidity levels...

In Merida, it still rains a little every day for most of the year. It rains in Merida everyday for sure during the wet season. It is the same thing in most large cities because they actually create their own climates in their own weather area because of the amount of concrete and the heat that is rising. Here at the beach, if it rains once a week, we are really pretty happy.

Supposedly, the rainy season is in the summer in the Yucatan Peninsula, but that may not happen. To give you an example, this past summer, we went over 3 months without a drop. There were no rains at all. My wife, Theresa, had to go out and water the plants.
The rainy season is not really a problem because it’s not really a rainy season. We don’t get a lot of rain here. It’s pretty similar to the dry season. We have perfect weather...

One of the reasons why myself and a lot of other people live here is because the weather here is basically always perfect. I don’t think it’s hot here but a lot of my clients have a hard time getting used to summer.
May is the hottest month of the year here; it could be 100 degrees Fahrenheit easily. If you live in Merida (the city that’s inland about half an hour to an hour by car) instead of the beach areas, it’s a proven fact that the temperature in Merida is 12 degrees higher than in the beach areas. If it’s a 100 degrees here in Chelem (at the beach), when you go to Merida to go shopping, it would be 112 degrees. Humidity can be 90% to 100%. I’m not complaining about the weather because I have gotten used to it.
