What's the closest airport to San Miguel de Allende and what are the flights to and from San Miguel de Allende?

The closest airports to San Miguel de Allende are in Leon and Queretaro. A lot of people fly from Mexico City and take a shuttle back to San Miguel because it is cheaper.

For instance, when family comes down from Atlanta, they generally catch direct flight from Atlanta to the Leon Airport. I can speak more for the Leon Airport than with the Queretaro Airport, as I’ve picked people up there a couple of times. The Leon Airport has really good travel infrastructure. When your shuttle lands in from San Miguel de Allende, there are recent model vans and English speaking drivers who are respectful, which makes your travel really easy. You won't feel worried if you've never travelled outside the US and don't speak Spanish. They take you by the hand and everything is as easy as could be.
In San Miguel de Allende, we have an airport that can handle private flights but I don’t have much information on that airport.
