Where are the best beaches in and around San Miguel de Allende?

San Miguel de Allende is in the middle of Mexico, in the Central Mexican highlands. It is not near the ocean so if you want to go to the beach, you can go to Ixtapa / Zihuatanejo, or Troncones, which is about 7 hours away by car. Ixtapa has both wild oceans and some calmer seas. Punta de Mita, which is between Sayulita and Puerto Vallarta, has beautiful mansions and nice beaches.
There are a bunch of towns on the road to Sayulita as well. Punta de Mita has high resort houses. I heard that most of the richest people in the world go to Punta de Mita. If you want to go to the beach you could also drive to Queretaro, which is an hour and a half away from San Miguel de Allende and from there you could take a plane to Puerto Vallarta, which would take another hour.
