How's the surf and surfing in and around San Miguel de Allende?

San Miguel de Allende is in the Mexican highlands, so it is not on the beach. If you want to go surfing, the closest surfing spot you can go to is in Ixtapa, which is about 6 hours away from San Miguel and Puerto Vallarta, which is about 7 hours away. Both of these places are on the Pacific side so you would drive west from San Miguel de Allende to get there. However, they are not the best surfing destinations in Mexico. Most people in San Miguel de Allende are not surfers...

If you are a person who loves surfing and you move to San Miguel, you will go to Ixtapa or Troncones in Zihuatanejo, which is the closest beach where you can go surfing and it is about 7 or more hours away from San Miguel by car.
