These tours are done in a really professional way. The tours have a bilingual crew so the service is incredible.
There are also tours using four wheelers and cross bikes. It is a really interesting tour that you can take in the morning and they will take you around San Miguel de Allende and give you a historic tour on a four-wheeler going on the mud and around the water dam while telling you how San Miguel de Allende was born. They will also tell you the role it played in the independence of Mexico. You would visit the antique churches and the haciendas where all the characters who had big roles in the planning of the independence stayed.
There are also hot air balloon tours here in San Miguel de Allende. You have wake up really early in the morning, and they will get you involved into putting the hot air balloon together, and then you could fly in it. You would see the sunrise from the hot air balloon. You will get a really amazing view of the whole city. You will see all the buildings and the haciendas and the areas that you would never see on the streets because of the walls. Then they will take you out for a nice breakfast before they let you go at around mid-day. It is really an incredible experience.
These have been the main adventure travel and activities here in San Miguel de Allende. The guys who do the horseback riding tours are starting to do rappelling tours. There is no rock climbing here because the rocks here in San Miguel de Allende are very soft for that activity so you won’t be able to climb up but there are natural walls around the canyon where you can rappel and go 50 meters (around 165 feet) down.

Some physical activities are horseback riding, quatro-motor (4-wheeling), hot air balloon rides, mountain hiking, swimming at one of several hot springs, the adventure park with several zip-lines, walking in the fields of the campos (countryside), and exploring the beautiful botanical gardens minutes from centro. There are also less strenuous activities such as visiting museums, witnessing festivals and celebrations, watching film festivals, participating in government-sponsored activities in the jardin (central plaza garden) and the many art galleries for which San Miguel is famous.
I am afraid to try the hot air balloon, but I’ve tried horseback riding and the quatro-motor (4-wheeling) in the campo (countryside).
The quatro-motor is usually done in the countryside area where you can go fast or slow with your 4-wheel drive vehicle as you pass through fields and streams. This is the same with horseback riding. You get to see outstanding countryside scenery, the mountains called Los Picachos, and even explore the now dormant volcano. Along the way you don’t want to miss the colorful birds seldom seen in the city. If you’re are lucky you may even see a road runner.
