How much does it cost for a gardener in Puerto Vallarta?
Carl Timothy - Timothy Real Estate Group
I pay my gardener 3,000 pesos (about US $174) a month here in Puerto Vallarta. My gardener comes three times a week and takes care of my swimming pool and all the gardening throughout the yard and the house. In addition to being our gardener, he spends most of the time as our handyman, electric guy, plumbing guy and all around person to do small repairs around our home.

He’s here about 3 to 4 hours on each visit, but there’s no real timeframe. He’s here until he gets his job done and sometimes I’ll have extra chores for him to do.

Gardeners in Puerto Vallarta charge lower rates compared to gardeners in Sayulita where I am from, about an hour north of Puerto Vallarta. If you have a big house, they charge 500 pesos (US $27.32) per week to come twice a week. If you have a pool, they might add 200 pesos ($11) more.
They could also charge less than 500 pesos ($27.32) if you have a smaller house or if you just want the yard cleaned. It takes them about 2 hours to do their job but it could...

It takes them about 2 hours to do their job but it could also vary depending on the amount of work that you would have them do. For example, it could take longer if they have to clean the pool or if there is a lot of grass, but on average, they don’t take more than 3 hours a day. If there is a lot of work to do, they would bring someone with them to help, but they charge the same price.

The cost for gardeners in Puerto Vallarta would depend on how much work they have to do. If they just need to trim a small yard quickly for half an hour to one hour, the cost is around 100 to 150 pesos (about US $6 to $8.50). They would cut the grass and trim some bushes, and then they're done.
For larger estates and homes, the cost for a gardener is 500 pesos (about $28) for a day's work. The gardener would do anything from cutting the grass, trimming bushes, trimming...

Some people might have their own tools for the gardeners to use, but gardeners do take their own tools with them. The incredible thing is that these local gardeners carry their tools around with them on a bicycle with a little trailer attached to it. It would be very unusual to see one with a large van and mowers like you would back in the States.

One of the incredible things in Puerto Vallarta is the variety of plants and trees that you can grow here. Gardens in Puerto Vallarta are beautiful. It's not unusual to see palm trees and pine trees growing in the same place together. The varieties and colors of flowers are just tremendous.
