What is the history of Los Cabos - La Paz, Mexico?
Pepe Acosta - Ventanas Hotel and Residences
La Paz is the Baja state capital and an important city in Baja California Sur.
Thirty years ago, Los Cabos had some hotels that used to be opened just six months of the year during the high season. In the low season, these hotels closed. It is not that Los Cabos is more important now than La Paz, but there is now a balance in importance between La Paz and Los Cabos in the Baja area. Los Cabos is better known around the world than La Paz and people are more familiar with the word "Cabo" which has become more famous. Los Cabos in Mexico is like Venice is to Italy.
Los Cabos is more active and there are more activities, restaurants, and tours. These are things that you won't find in La Paz.
La Paz is a very calm city, a more peaceful place, with "tranquilidad" (tranquility) and people live there in a different way. In La Paz, you can relax, disconnect from everything, and see panoramic views. Go to Isla Espiritu Santo because for me this is paradise and it is the best place to stay in the Baja area. A trip to Baja California Sur is not complete without a trip to Isla Espiritu Santo.
