How's the biking in and around Chapala and Ajijic, Mexico?

There are a lot of people from Guadalajara who come to the Chapala and Ajijic area to do bike races. We have bike paths from Chapala to Jocotepec, although you won’t see bike paths everywhere but there is a lot of them here.
A lot of people go to work on their bikes every day. People here in Chapala not only use their bike for sports but rather is it a mode of transportation. As long as you stay on the bike paths, then it’s safe but if you go...

I haven’t seen mountain biking here but perhaps young people do that. Road biking is definitely available. If you are strong enough and young enough, you could even go road biking from Ajijic to Guadalajara. There are people who do that.

You can go bike riding and around Chapala and Ajijic. In fact, there are some groups of bikers that ride from Ajijic to Jocotepec or from Ajijic to Chapala. They have different routes and they go around two or three times a week. They even go to Ixtlahuacán, which is a town north of Chapala on the way to Guadalajara. Most of the bikers here are road bikers. We have bike lanes all the way from Jocotepec to Chapala.
