Are there exotic birds in and around Chapala and Ajijic, Mexico? Where can I go bird watching in and around Chapala and Ajijic, Mexico?

I am not a birder but I know that there is a group of birders that have done counts here. There are lots of birds in Chapala and Ajijic from hundreds of species.
There is a huge amount migratory birds from North America that come down here during the winter. There are some local parrots and other kinds of local birds here but we are not in a tropical jungle so we don’t have thousands of colorful birds around.
Overall, there are lots of birds in Chapala...

There is a bird watching group here in Chapala and there are lots of different species of birds that you will see in special seasons. There is a photography group that takes pictures with the birdwatchers here, too.
On a typical day, it is very normal to see birds flying around. There is a bird right in front of my building right now and there are bird nests in a couple of places in my building. We have exotic birds here, too.

There are bird watching clubs here in the Ajijic – Chapala area but they’re not really exotic birds. If you want to see exotic birds there are a few at the cat shelter in Riberas (about 10 minutes by car from Ajijic, towards Chapala. They have an area where they have birds in cages, some of which are exotic birds

Just walking around in the area you’ll see red birds, you’ll see a robin occasionally, you’ll see the little Aztec doves everywhere, regular US doves, occasionally red neck doves, orioles, and woodpeckers. There are birds that you might see in the US, too. For example, we have a lot of barn swallows, which make nests everywhere. You’ll see the nests walking up and down the street built over lights, but the barn swallows eat a lot of mosquitoes, so that’s good. But you don’t see parrots similar types of birds because the climate is not conducive for that.

There are birds in Chapala and Ajijic like kingfishers, pelicans, egrets, and a red-breasted sapsucker. There is a brilliant yellow-breasted bird. I have never seen any parakeets in the area. Just before sunset and sunrise and when you wake up, there's always the pleasant chattering of birds.
In different parts of Mexico, you'll see a lot of different birds.

The malecon/park in San Antonio Tlayacapan is a nice place in Chapala where you can go birdwatching. Take the road where the Coca Cola plant is, pass the plant, and go towards the lake. You'll run into a nice park with "baños" (bathrooms), parking, playground equipment, and tables. Part of the park is a malecón with big marshes so there are a lot of birds. It is a quiet, small protected area that's very pleasant to go to. We go walking with the dogs in this area in morning (reasonably early) for best bird viewing.
It is not unusual in the Lakeside area to find different types of malecóns with various amounts of birds.
