The average temperature in Chapala and Ajijic is in the low 70 degrees. You can also see historical, monthly weather patterns and rain amounts, etc., do you could see a pretty good idea of what the weather is like.The low temperatures in the winter gets into down to around 50 degrees at night and sometimes even in the 50s when we have a cold front. In the day time, in the winter, the temperature gets around 50 degrees unless we have some cloud cover, which is rare but can happen when there is a storm out there.
The general winter weather goes from 50 degrees at 5 AM to 75 degrees at 4 PM. In the evening, you would want to wear a jacket or a sweater and in the morning, you put on your slippers. Some people have fireplaces that they use occasionally during winter.
Spring starts warming up in mid-February to March, so then you would hang up your light jackets and not touch them again until around November. Temperatures during spring are from 50 to 60 degrees at night and around 80 degrees during the day. Out hot months are the middle of April, May, and early June where the temperature ranges from 90 to 94 degrees, which is the highest temperature that I have seen in 7 years. We do get a little more humidity in May as it builds up towards the rainy season. May is probably the most uncomfortable month here as far as the weather goes.
Rain starts in June and lasts for up to 4 months. During this time, it rains almost every day and mostly in short bursts or at night. The temperatures during rainy season are in a very narrow and comfortable range, which is around 72 to 87 degrees all summer. The summers here is a warm time but a lot of the year-round residents like our climate in the summer better than any time of the year.
During fall or in October, the rains stop and the days start to get shorter and over time it gets cool again into November. Fall is very nice as things are still green from the rain.
Overall, the weather here in Chapala and Ajijic all year round is pretty nice and very comfortable.

It’s springtime all year long in the Lake Chapala area. It hits 85 sometimes in the dry season, and it might get 65 in the winter months. The worst blizzard I’ve ever seen down here was in the dead winter when one night it got down to 45 degrees. Normally in the wintertime it’s about 60 at night and 75 in the day. I enjoy the cooler nights because we get to use the fireplace. It hardly ever gets above 75 degrees in August, which is one of the reasons we...It’s springtime all year long in the Lake Chapala area. It hardly ever gets above 75 degrees in August, which is one of the reasons we live here. Our friends in Texas come to visit us in the summer. They’re called “sunbirds," and they come in the summer because it’s just delightful here. Summer is our favorite time.
In the winter we have snowbirds, mostly Canadians, and they cause the immigrant population to double.
This in turn puts a strain on the infrastructure, especially the streets (traffic).

The temperature is pretty consistent; it only varies by a few degrees more or less, which is one of advantages of living here.

You don’t need air-conditioning here; you only need a fan. When we build houses here, we only duct them if the client asks for it. Only about 20% of our clients have asked for their houses to be ducted for air-conditioning. We have probably two weeks of really hot weather but it is not humid so you won’t feel uncomfortable. We also experience a week of cold but it’s only cold for us locals, and not for expats who come from North America. During the cold days, locals wear jackets and the expats wear shorts.

The weather in Chapala is great- It’s 26 Celsius (79 Fahrenheit). It’s a little bit hot, but for Canadians who come from a -15 or -30 degree weather, coming to Mexico is lovely. They all say this is a magnificent weather. Even when it’s the rainy season, they like it. Fortunately, here in Ajijic, you know when it’s going to rain, you know when the sun is going to come up, and you know when it’s going to be cloudy....

They all say this is a magnificent weather. Even when it’s the rainy season, they like it. Fortunately, here in Ajijic, you know when it’s going to rain, you know when the sun is going to come up, and you know when it’s going to be cloudy. We have very predictable weather. You can go out with an umbrella because you know it’s going to rain, and it rains! The weather is really stable, and it’s nice. And most of the time, it rains at night, so you have the whole day to do whatever you need, and when you’re at home ready to rest, it starts raining, which is great.
The rainy season is normally from May, June and a little bit of July. This year has been really good because the Chapala Lake has risen a meter.

During the non-rainy season, it does rain sometimes, but we could have three months without rain- not a drop of rain, and that’s going to be really hot.. May is the hottest, at about 30-34 degrees Celsius (86 – 93 Fahrenheit). Once, it went all the way to 39 (102 Fahrenheit). That would be like the record of all time. Generally speaking it should be around 32 Celsius, and about 19-20 degrees Celsius (66 – 68 Fahrenheit) in the rainy season. In winter, you can expect the temperature to be around 4-5 degrees Celsius in the morning (39 – 41 Fahrenheit), and 12-16 degrees Celsius (54 – 61 Fahrenheit) during the day.
I love the weather in Mexico. I prefer cold weather, but not the extremely cold weather.

It can be a little bit cooler during the night, but not less than 10 to 13 Celsius (50 – 55.4 Fahrenheit). On Christmas Eve, December 24, people get by just wearing a jacket, a jumper, or something light. Many people have fireplaces, but it’s only because it’s romantic, and not because they really need it. In April and in May, it gets too hot in Chapala and Ajijic. These are the hottest months, and the temperature can rise to as high as 38 Celsius (100.4 Fahrenheit.) You can say you are melting on the streets, but that’s why Chapala has swimming pools everywhere.
Some people will have a different idea in their head when you say “melting,” because is Spanish, we say, “I’m melting like a candle,” but it’s really not that bad. I’ve been to Cuba and St. Lucia, Spain, and it’s 42 to 43 Celsius (107.6 – 109.4 Fahrenheit) there- that’s melting.
