Many of Mexico's architectural structures, including the colonial cities, have been designated World Heritage. The city center here in Oaxaca and in San Cristobal de las Casas in Chiapas, has colonial architecture and these buildings are protected by UNESCO. If you live in the center, you are not allowed to change anything on the construction of your house. Because of this the centre is and stays very beautiful.
