Where's the best sightseeing in and around Placencia, Belize?
Nikki Muschamp
There is lots of sightseeing in Placencia, Belize. We even have this cool bowling alley. It is not a major bowling alley that you can find elsewhere. It has four lanes, so it is not as huge as other bowling alleys. It is something fun to do here. If I were to take someone sightseeing, I think I would take them there.

We have the Belize Ocean Club, which is a resort that is open to the community that has regular pool parties. They have nice reggae music going on. It has huge pool, three altogether. It has dining area. It has beach volleyball. There is kayaking. You can go kayaking and you can go into the ocean. You can play volleyball. There is a barbecue. There are restaurants there. There is a pool and there is nice music going on. That is what it is like!
Another sightseeing activity is to o to the beach, of course. We go to the local bars on the beach. The Tipsy Tuna is a bar in the beach. I love Tipsy Tuna because it is on the beach. It has music. It has nice food. It is a nice beach experience with its barefoot bars, which are popping bars. People dance and have a great time; you are on the beach, you have food and you are dancing. Their food is a mix of cuisines. It is a mixture of Mexican, American, and Belizean cuisine. There are nachos, tacos, and burgers. There’s food like meat and pork. They have a pork special. Then you have the local food. Every Sunday they have barbeque, rice and beans.
I think it would be nice also to take a ride on the peninsula. There are different communities in the peninsula, so it would be nice to take someone there to show them the different aspects of the peninsula and what goes on.
There is a Sunset Cruise, which is also cool. There is a local guy here in Placencia who has a cruise boat where couples can have wine and have some snacks while you watch the sunset.
There is also a party boat, which goes around the peninsula, and everyone just has a party. There’s food, there’s music, there’s a party, and you are in the ocean!

Personally, my favorite activity in Placencia is fly-fishing, which is world class here. You can just take a short boat ride to one of the coral reefs or the atolls and you can catch awesome permit, bonefish, tarpon, etc. There are a lot of coral reefs and atolls around Placencia full of marine life and great fishing.
On the Placencia Peninsula itself, there are a lot of sightseeing tours such as bird-watching, scuba diving, snorkeling, and deep-sea fishing. I qualify all...

On the Placencia Peninsula itself, there are a lot of sightseeing tours such as bird-watching, scuba diving, snorkeling, and deep-sea fishing. I qualify all these as tours. It all depends on what you want to see but there is everything in Placencia for anybody. I’ve been deep-sea fishing, fly-fishing, zip lining, hiking, and done Maya ruins tours. There are also cave-tubing tours. There is a jaguar reserve an hour away from Placencia where you can go and see the protected jaguar species. There is a lot to do for sightseeing in Belize. Some of these tours that I’ve mentioned are outside of Placencia but they are just within an hour away from Placencia by car, so they are accessible.
One of the advantages that Placencia has over some of the other cayes or islands of Belize is that you could just easily drive your car right from the peninsula onto the mainland and go sightseeing on the mainland, as opposed to getting on a boat or a plane like you would if you were on the other cayes or islands. If you just want to relax, you can stay on the peninsula. If you want to go on an adventure, you can just easily do that by driving to the mainland, which is just within an hour away.
