What are the outdoor activities in and around Placencia, Belize?

I have not yet personally experienced a lot of the outdoor and activities in Placencia (I’ve not been here long enough), but my clients have informed me that there are a tremendous amount of outdoor activities specific to the Placencia area. We have scuba diving, snorkeling, wind sailing parasailing, etc. We also have kayaking.
If you’re wiling to drive maybe 45 minutes from the peninsula, you can also go to the Mayan ruins or the jaguar reserve....

If you’re wiling to drive maybe 45 minutes from the peninsula, you can also go to the Mayan ruins or the jaguar reserve. We have gorgeous tropical waterfalls, hiking, and zip lining. Placencia has some spectacular outdoor enthusiast, jungle loving, nature hugging activities to keep you busy for a really long time.
I haven’t been there personally to give a testimony, but I can tell that Belize is really hard to beat anywhere on the planet in terms of what an outdoor, nature enthusiast could possibly hope a place to be. There is one highway running through the entire country. How do you get lost? In 2007 or 2008, Placencia had its first paved road through the peninsula. Its an area that for the last 6,000 years of known human life, has never had a road. Because of its great natural beauty and how relatively undeveloped it is, nature enthusiasts love it.

You can do a lot of outdoor activities in and around Placencia. On land, you can bicycle around because Placencia is pretty flat. A lot of people use road bikes as their mode of transportation here in Placencia. Some people own cars and some don’t. People who live in Placencia village usually own golf carts, but in order to go around in the village, you can just ride your bicycle.

There are also water activities like snorkeling or you can go kayaking if you want to go out on your own. You can also go kayaking on the lagoon where it is a little more windy. There are two cayes that are pretty close to Placencia where you could go on your own. Otherwise, the other cayes are a little further out and you definitely have to take a boat to get there. There are certain days where a common kayaker can just go out to the cayes on his kayak, since there are days when the water is just flat. One caye is about a couple of ball fields away from Placencia and the other caye is about a quarter mile away from where I work here in Placencia. They are really close.
There are also inland activities that you can do more easily by just driving there because we are in a peninsula; as opposed to being on one of the islands like Ambergris Caye. Within in a half hour’s drive from Placencia, you can go to a waterfall or hike to the jaguar preserve. Almost everything is an easy hike here. There are also extreme activities that you can do.
If you go south of Placencia, you could go to the spice farm or the chocolate farms. The Mayan Ruins are also just close by, but if you are a book reader and you just want to lay on the beach, you could do that, too. There is just a little bit of everything for everybody here in Placencia.
