How's the golf in and around Placencia, Belize?

The only golf course located in Belize right now is located in Caye Chapel. The entire island is a golf course. It’s both an 18-hole and a 9-hole golf course. Many people fly there if they want to play golf. It is a 45-minute flight or you can drive your car but you still have to take a boat to the island.

Caye Chapel is a high-end place. To play there, you have to pay around US $15 to $50. If you hit the ball into the water, you are going to have to swim and get it! It’s actually a rich family in the US who bought it and turned it into a golf course. What I read is that the guy didn’t have enough money to finance it, so he put it up for sale. I think the Island is around $18 million, if I am not mistaken.
Caye Chapel is well maintained. The thing is that they don’t have golf caddies over there, because we don’t have the finances to keep it. But the golf course, itself, is well maintained. The grass is always nicely cut.
We are working on a new golf course in Belize, which is already in the development stage. It is still a way from being a golf course.
