Are there exotic birds in and around Placencia, Belize? Where can I go bird watching in and around Placencia, Belize?

Belize is about 60% to 70% nature reserve,+ so there’s a lot of bird watching here.
I just look at my window and I see a humming bird; different birds are flying across. If you would like to see more of the rare birds, you have to go to the jungle, which is about an hour away from Placencia by car.

Yes, you can see exotic birds around Placencia but most of the bird watching is done inland. In Placencia, I see a lot of beautiful birds such as hummingbirds (which are very prominent), but not the toucans and similar birds because they’re more in the jungle environment.
We do see a lot of iguanas. And periodically you might see a tarantula walking down the street and a lot of sand crabs. Particularly at dusk when you're walking down the street or on a...

Strictly speaking, the peninsula of Placencia is on the mainland. The peninsula is pretty much parallel to main coastline, so you're always in sight of the other side of the lagoon. It's not like Placencia sticks straight out into the Caribbean; it runs parallel.
There are lots of water birds in Placencia, such as frigates and things of that nature, but the exotic birds that people might want to see that harken to Caribbean images of parakeets and similar birds, you're not going to see that at the coast so much. You can see them within a couple of hours’ drive.
There’s also a jaguar preserve that’s only 45 minutes away from Placencia.
