Can I buy good clothes in Placencia, Belize?
Erin Ivy - Captain Jak's
You can buy basic clothing and beachwear here in Placencia, but if you want a cute little outfit, you would have to go to Belize City for that. Belize City has regular dress shops, but take note that even if you go to Belize City or Belmopan (the capital of Belize), you will not find an American-style mall. Dangriga probably has better shopping. If you want to shop in an American style mall, you can go to Chetumal, which is right on the border of Belize and Mexico.

Most of the expats who live here in Placencia go back to their home countries several times a year to see their kids and grandkids, and they usually buy clothes then. People who travel and stay here in the winter and go back home in summer usually have a set of wardrobe here, and they also have a different set wardrobe when they go back home. For the most part, you bring clothing with you when you move here in Placencia.

Yes you can buy nice clothes here in Placencia, There is a resale store and about 2 popular boutiques that sell American brands such as American Eagle, Hollister, Forever 21 etc.
For the most part people usually drive up to Belize City, which is approximately 3 hours driving, or if you catch a plane, it's 45 minutes. There are many clothing stores there, but not like the huge malls in the States. To get mall...

To get mall experiences people travel to Chetumal, Mexico, which is right on the border of Belize, and where you will find American outlets.
Some people order online and have their purchases shipped through the post office. Expats have an advantage, because when visiting home countries they usually do their big shopping and bring as much summer clothing as possible!
