How's the golf in and around Corozal?

I would describe the golf around Corozal as not good at all. I love to golf. I golfed two or three times a week in Canada for the last several years I was there.

I would describe the golf around Corozal as not good at all. I love to golf. I golfed two or three times a week in Canada for the last several years I was there.

 

In contrast, there are only two golf courses in the country of Belize. There’s one in Belmopan, which I played on that’s run by a South African guy who’s lived here forever. It’s nine hole and decent. It’s a place to hit the ball. The ground’s hard. They don’t have the financing to put the necessary maintenance that’s needed for a golf course to be really good. There are no lush greens and no well-groomed sand traps and the divots aren’t fixed. The ground is hard here. 

 

Belmopan is a good distance from Corozal, about two and a half hours. There is a course at Consejo Shores, which is another retirement village here in the Corozal District. It’s a nine-hole course that’s placed sort of in the center of a community. Again, you won’t be seeing the PGA there, that’s for sure.

There’s a little nine-hole course up in Consejo Shores and there’s a driving range at Cerros Sands but for a real golf course, you’re going to have to drive about an hour down to Kanantik Belize Residential Resort and Golf, which is a big development back down south toward Belize City.

 

I’m not going to pay a lot of attention to golfing when I get down to Corozal. I realize it takes a lot of capital, but if I can raise enough...
